4-1: M2s Vs Dunfermline Carnegie 2s (District Cup) - 03/03/2022

The match started on a slippy yet slick Jordanhill astro. Carnegie were running around crazy in attempts to run us off the pitch but Hillhead 2s stayed true, and held a tight defence, marking close. As the first quarter drew to a close there was no notable events, which was a bit of a worry.

The rest of the game grew in quality for Hillhead, we had found another level. Passes were cleaner, dicicion making was calmer and overall the patience was benefitting out game.

The first goal came from a lovely string of passes after a counter attack, breaking the D line with a 2 on 1 with the keeper. A last second pass to Marcus MacIntyre-Kemp sliding on the post secures the 1-0 lead with a deflection.

A goal followed by the eventual man of the match, Murray McVicar, which put the game in Hillhead's stride. This goal lead to some capitulation from Hillhead as some loose marking around the back, and the threat of an aireal cause a scrapy in front of the keeper goal for Carnegie.

The game was not as comfortable as Hillhead thought. Only a wee while longer, another fantastic break from the forwards, with Murray having another strike from top D, the keeper comes out, goes down, and an accidental top, flops the ball over the keeper and in the goal. 3-1.

An excellent shift in midfield from Iain Luke, Craig Hilton, Kyle Flockhart kept the game in good practice with recycling and building the attack from defence, something Hillhead will take into the the closing matches of the season, and the next round of the Cup on Sunday.

The last goal came from a classic slider short corner from Andrew Sinclair which sealed the game in. Carnegie only had 11 in their squad and were feeling the effects vs a full 16. They fought to the last whistle, but it was not enough. An enjoyable game all round.
