We understand the need to nurture and develop our own home grown players to thrive as a hockey club.
Futures was established to strengthen the link for boys attending Hillhead Juniors to the senior club and provide additional pitch time for our future stars.

Primary 7+ & Development Squad: 6.15pm - 7.30pm
Hillhead Futures is led by Alan Meikle and supported by a number of dedicated coaches and current 1st XI players.
Origin
Started in 2018 by club stalwart Alan Meikle, the boy’s Futures sessions have grown from a handful of boys who played for the Men’s Development Squad to three distinct age groups allowing for continual progression and creating a rewarding environment.
Keen to build on the skills that the boys had learned through HIllhead Juniors on a Sunday, we committed to getting our boys more pitch time.
With a key focus on developing a hockey brain through match play and advanced technical skills. The boys were keen to take on Alan’s challenge of establishing Hillhead as a top tier U16 and U18 team once again.
Successes
We are delighted that ten of our Futures boys made the West District squads for the 2023 Inter Districts, 6 participated in the Brave Cup, as well as one of our Futures graduates making the Scotland Emerging Boys squad.
