About us
Hillhead is a large, mixed, friendly field hockey club based in the heart of the west end of Glasgow.
The Men’s and Ladies’ clubhouse is at Woodend Bowling & Tennis Club on Chamberlain Road, Jordanhill.
With well over 250 playing members in the senior clubs, aged from 14 to 70+, Hillhead offers something for everyone with an interest in the sport. With the Ladies' section now well into its second century of existence and the Men's section currently celebrating its half-century, the Club has a great history to draw upon. Both clubs have recruited a great team of coaches, ensuring every session pushes our athletes towards success at the weekend.
Hillhead Men’s Hockey club has 7 outdoor teams for season 2023/24. Our 1st team play in the Scottish Premiership, and were finalists in the Scottish Cup in 2022. The 2s play in Regional League 1, and claimed the title in 2022/2023 with an undefeated season. The 2s are also the reigning Scottish District Cup champions having lifted the trophy in May 2023. The 3s - 7s competing across the West District Leagues giving us representation at every level in Scotland. We run a dedicated development squad as an entry point for our juniors moving into adult hockey preparing them to move up through the teams as the develop their skills and knowledge.
Hillhead Ladies’ Hockey Club has 5 outdoor teams for season 2023/24 also competing at all levels in Scottish Hockey. The 1st XI play in the Scottish Premiership and our 2nd XI in Championship Division 1. The 3s, 4s and 5s play in the respective West District Leagues. The teams in the West District divisions provide great guidance for new and young players, developing skill levels and game awareness, preparing them well to step up through the teams.
Both sections have fully embraced Masters Hockey and support our players competing on the European and World stage at over 35s through over 65s age groups.
Hillhead Juniors caters for those aged 4-16 years old (Primary 1 - Secondary 3). Each of our sessions ensures that players will develop new skills, experience match play and be tested physically and mentally while ensuring fun remains at the forefront of activity. Senior players from the men’s and ladies’ section are on the pitch every week delivering sessions alongside our dedicated coaches to bring a wealth of experience that our youth players can learn from.
