11-0: M3s vs Ayr (WD1) - 23/10/21

Hillhead Third XI welcomed Ayr to Windyedge on Saturday for their fourth game of a so far undefeated season. With Rottenrow and Helensburgh setting the pace at the top of WD1 every game for Hillhead at this early stage was a must win. Ayr travelled to the big smoke on the back of a 5-2 win against Strathclyde University, meanwhile Hillhead had laboured to a 3-1 win against a stubborn Glasgow University side.

Hillhead had a strong squad available, with Hillhead’s very own Andrew ‘Iniesta’ Hilton making his first appearance of the season, a debut for the effervescent Charlie ‘The Chancellor’ McCarthy and Vijay ‘Hakuna Matata’ Trivedy returning to action after the birth of his baby daughter. The game started ominously for Ayr with Vijay Trivedy giving Hillhead a lead within the opening exchanges, converting from a penalty corner. The rest is history as they say with Hillhead pounding the Ayr defence with wave after wave of attack. Goals were aplenty as despite their perseverance and continued commitment to attack, Ayr succumbed 11-0. Goals were for Colin Melia (3), Vijay Trivedy (2), Alan Meikle (2), Charlie McCarthy (2), Gregor Chambers and James Prowse.

A hug credit to Ayr for their continued commitment to travel the miles and their conduct and resilience when up against it. We look forward to the return trip against a team of gentlemen.
