Saturday 3rd November

Hillhead 1s 1 - 3 Grange 1s - National League 1

Captain's Report

Grove Menzieshill 2s 1 - 4 Hillhead 2s - Regional League 1

Hillhead 2s move into 3rd position in Scottish Hockey Regional League 1. Mark Campbell snatched a double with Chris Wilson and Iain Luke netting one each to complete a dominant win against the side from Dundee.

Hillhead 3s 2 - 2 Uddingston 2s - West District 1

The youngsters came from behind twice to earn a valuable point which keeps them at the summit of West District 1. The standard of hockey from both teams was extremely high with both teams having spells of dominance. Uddingston's first goal came from a breakaway after winning the ball back on the edge of their own circle, 3 passes later the forward had found the bottom left corner with a clean strike. Not to be outdone, Hillhead put together a fine team goal to even the score.

Rottenrow 2s 0 - 9 Hillhead 4s - West District 2

A great team performance - when the 4's work together we win big.   Man of the match was Gregor Munro who carved a route to goal down the right wing. Short corners won 7, goals from shorts 4, a good conversion rate with a much slicker routine than before.

A hattrick from Stephen Frame with two resulting from the double drag corner routine and his third from a diving tomahawk undercut from a narrow angle had to be seen.  Good running off the ball and a determination that hasn't always been there this season. Seven points clear at the top with 4 key players missing today the team will get a lot stronger over the next few weeks.  Only Kelburne 4s remain within striking distance due to games in hand, the game between the two teams in 3 weeks time will go a long way to settling the direction of the title.

Hillhead 5s 3 - 4 Irvine 1s - West District 2

Ralph Shackleton found the net twice in a 3-4 loss to Irvine 1s on Saturday. It looked like the spoils would be shared in the late push back at Old Anniesland however it was Irvine that found the winning goal with only a few minutes to go from a short corner. Next week sees a crucial match away to Uddingston 4s as the 4s look to climb the table.

Hillhead 6s P - P Ayr 2s - West District 3

Due to a waterlogged pitch the match was postponed.

Sunday 4th November

Hillhead 1s 5 - 0 Stirling University 1s - Scottish Plate

Hillhead received a walkover victory as the opposition was unable to raise a team.

Hillhead 3s 4 - 2 Watsonians 4s - Reserve Cup

The 3s move into the last eight of the Reserve Cup after defeating Watsonians 4s yesterday afternoon at Old Anniesland. A fantastic result as they look to secure a league and cup double for the club.
