Weekend Preview - 2nd November

Posted by Ewan Campbell on 31 October 2019

The Western Lettings Hillhead 2nd XI get the day started with an early 11.30am push back against Western Wildcats 2s. The 1s and 3s are at Old Anniesland, 4s and 5s at Lower Windyedge and the 6s and 7s travel to Helensburgh.

Western Lettings Hillhead 1s vs Dundee Wanderers 1s - 3pm @ Old Anniesland - Scottish Premiership

After last weeks disappointing result against Clydesdale, the 1st team will be hoping to bounce back with a win against Dundee Wanderers on Saturday. A match against Wanderers is rarely straightforward - and Alan Meikle's men will have their work cut out for them once again when they take to the field. Youngster Calum Munro will be part of the squad once again as he continues to grow into his new midfield role. THree points here would keep the 1st team in touch with 5th place as they look to build a platform for the second half of the season.

Western Lettings Hillhead 2s vs Western Wildcats 2s - 11.30am @ Auchenhowie - Regional League 1

Only two points separate the 2s from local rivals Western Wildcats although the Milngavie side has a game in hand. A win here would close the gap to the leaders in Regional 1 as Andrew Sinclair's side continue to gel into serious contenders for the title. Josh Phillips gets the call up after netting four last weekend for the threes.

Western Lettings Hillhead 3s vs Greenock 1s - 4.30pm @ Old Anniesland - Regional League 2

The threes have assembled a strong squad for Saturday albeit a tad light in numbers. Fortunately Alan Meikle and Andy Maclaine are natural athletes - so expect plenty of miles covered by these two! Jonny Duke will be hoping that his side continue to find the net as they did in last weekends 9-1 victory over Watsonians.

Western Lettings Hillhead 4s vs Clydesdale 4s - 3pm @ Lower Windyedge - West District 2

Gordon Macintyre-Kemp's fourth team are keeping pace with two very strong sides in this division as they aim to sneak a promotion place at the end of the season. Their only loss to date was against GHK 1s who dropped two divisions from last season. The fours are the highest scoring team in the league as it stands and Clydesdale has conceded the most so far. In a derby match like this though - anything can happen!

Western Lettings Hillhead 5s vs Giffnock 1s - 1.30pm @ Lower Windyedge - West District 2

The 5s may face a tougher test this weekend than most of our teams - visitors Giffnock have found the net 26 times while conceding only 3. Last weekend saw the fives edged out by a single goal against Kelburne, hopefully someone can step up and find a chink in the Giffnock armour.

Western Lettings 6s vs Helensburgh 3s - 2pm @ Hermitage Academy - West District 3 North

Graham Conkie's men travel out west to face Helensburgh 3s - it has been a tough season for the 6s so far so fingers crossed they are able to put in a solid performance.

Western Lettings Development Squad (7s) vs Helensburgh 2s - 12.15pm @ Hermitage Academy - West District 3 North

The youngsters get the action at Hermitage underway at 12.15pm, there has been a week on week improvement from the boys which is the aim of the program. Despite some extremely tough matches for our young squad, they have never stopped fighting for goals. A massive credit to all of them last weekend for sticking it out and getting a well deserved goal against Western Wildcats.
