Hillhead's finest star for Scotland
Whilst the season comes to an end for most of us, spare a thought for James Ross and John Reid who continue to train hard as part of their involvement with Scotland Under 18s and Under 16s respectively.
James earned his first cap for Scotland Under 18s on Friday, going down 5-1 to the Welsh in Wales. Playing in various positions up the left flank in the second test, James enjoyed being part of an improved performance as the team once more lost, this time by three goals to one. In the final match James played the entire match give or take a minute or so, and contributed to the team's best performance as they salvaged some pride with a hard fought 1-1 draw.
Next season promises to be a big one for James at club level as he continues to improve and impress. A place in the first XI is surely his to lose.
John Reid playing his second season at Under 16s again visited Dutch club HDM for their annual invitational tounament. Scotland unlike their opponents fielded an under 16 side whilst the other club sides and Switzerland fielded under 18 sides. Scotland finished a credible sixth with three successive wins against Dutch Side Almere, Aberdeen Grammar School and most notably Switzerland Under 18s. John scored in a friendly against hosts HDM and in the tournament against Ring Pass. He played the majority of the tournament at centre forward.
Next season should see John establish himself in the first XI which will further his progress at international level.
WELL DONE BOYS, HILLHEAD ARE VERY PROUD OF YOUR SUCCESSES
P.S. - Hillhead are also delighted to hear that Aiden Docherty now at Inverleith continues to dazzle, capped for a second year at under 18 level. A credit to Hillhead and I am sure Inverleith.
