About Us
Hillhead is a large, mixed field hockey club based in the heart of the west of Glasgow. With well over 200 affiliated playing members, aged between 14 and 60+, Hillhead offers something for everyone. With the ladies' section recently entering its second century in existence and the men's section fast approaching its fortieth year, the club has a great history to draw upon.
Although not yet at the pinnacle of Socttish hockey, Hillhead continue to strive towards this goal. However, above all, Hillhead members pride themselves on the friendly atmosphere enjoyed at the club, with men, ladies and juniors united in one cause: enjoyment.
Hillhead Hockey Club was, until the summer of 2009, part of Hillhead Sports Club, based at Hughenden playing fields. As from September of 2009, the Club will be associated with Woodend Bowling and Tennis Club. Woodend is a very friendly club with a modern clubhouse, hosting a good mix of sports and games: bowling, tennis, hockey, running and bridge.
The men's section will use Jordanhill School's all-weather pitch at Chamberlain Road for top matches; the Ladies' will continue to use Windyedge which is nearby, off Anniesland Road.
